Out with the old, in with the new

Looking at my posts and thinking some of them are so outdated? That's because I just exported my entire wordpress blog and imported it on to blogger.

After being on wordpress for a year and a few months, I have finally decided to move back to blogger. Simply because of the many restrictions wordpress has...other than that, the website is pretty great.

Nonetheless, for all of my new readers - I'd like to welcome you to my blog. My name is Neha Lobana and I talk about anything and everything, however I emphasize on fashion and beauty more. I am an aspiring journalist and I also write for many publications. When I'm not attending events, writing articles or interviewing individuals, I run this blog.

Thankfully, I've imported all of my posts via wordpress - however, I have lost my followers. So give me a bit of time to get everything back together and before you'll know it, my blog will be back to normal.

Nail Design: MooMoo Nails

Hey guys!

Today I will be sharing with you all my newest design. I thought of this one on Saturday. It wasn't inspired by any designs I've seen on YouTube, simply formed the idea myself. Anyway, I'd love to introduce you all to my newest design, "moomoo nails". If you haven't figured it out, the design was inspired by cows!!

Creating this design is quite simple actually. All you'll need is either white or a very light pink as your base and a black polish for your spots! You'll also need a toothpick to create your spots!

Step 1: Add base coat (it's a must plus it prevent your nails from turning yellow)

Step 2: Apply two coats of either the white or light pink polish. As you can see from the picture above I went with light pink.

Step 3: After your base polish is dry, grab a toothpick and start creating spots

Step 4: This step is optional! If you wish, you can create a cross on both your pinkies like I did.

Step 5: Finish your design off with a glossy coat of top coat

PS: You wouldn't believe the looks I got from people when I told them the name of my nail design. It was priceless! I love wowing people with my weirdness.

La Maison Simons Clothing Line Review & Haul

A few weeks ago, I received an email from a few representatives at La Maison Simons. Simons is a clothing located in Quebec, who have also opened an online shop which allows buyers to purchase items such as clothing, accessories as well as home decor! I was given a $50 gift card to buy anything I liked from their website.

Here are some of the things that I purchased.

Zigzag Jacquard Sweater. Originally $38.00, I got it on sale for $19.99!

How I wore it

When I first chose to buy this top, I selected the size medium rather than my normal small. I did this because I wanted the shirt to be loose and casual. As you can see in the picture above, I paired the top with a pair of black pants, a gold necklace, a black beret and a pair of round sunglasses courtesy of La Maison Simons.

Oversized Striped Tee- Originally priced at $20.00, I got it on sale for $11.99
How I wore it

I've been searching for a black striped shirt and finally found it at Simons! I also purchased this top in a medium because I wanted it loose enough so it could be worn off the shoulder or as a casual slip on. I paired this shirt with ripped skinny jeans, and accesorized it with a pair of pearl earrings as well as bracelets. I also added the sunglasses into this photo, but I personally did not wear them, but you can.

Retro round sunglasses - $10

I selected these because I wanted a pair of trendy round sunglasses. I've seen quite a lot of celebrities wearing round black ones and I thought I'd change it up by not purchasing the classic black but white instead.

Black Business Class Italian Stocking - $7.25

I don't think I need to say much about this product, every girl goes through many of these. It's an essential part of every girls wardrobe.

When I received my order, I found this cute little tote bag in my box.
The Verdict

Overall, my experience with La Maison Simons was great! Some of their items are a bit over priced, however if you look hard enough you can easily find clothes that match your style and suit your budget. I'm very happy with the clothes I received. I've worn them a few times since I got them and I love them. They may seem like casual tops at a glance, but you can easily dress them up to your liking. I hope this review gives you guys an idea of what you may like to purchase at La Maison Simons.

Nail Design: Crackle Polish

Just like last week, this week's nail design is super simple but it also looks fab!

I finally gave in to buying some crackle nail polish, however I didn't purchase the typical white or black shades. Instead I decided to go with China Glaze's "Crackled Medallion" nail polish. It gives your nails such a dark and rustic look, I love it! Before I applied the crackle polish, I painted two coats of Essie's "Little Brown Dress" nail polish.

This is a great design to pull off if you don't have much time to spend on your nails. Next time when you're in a hurry, don't paint your nails one simple color only, add some crackle polish and you're good to go!
PS: Can you believe that I got this China Glaze Crackle polish for only $2.99 on sale?! Originally it costs around $8-$9!

DIY: Braided Fabric Bracelets!

It's family day here in Canada, which means no school!

For a while now I've been wanting to do a few DIY projects, and today boredom came upon me once again so I decided to make some fabric bracelets. Now, I don't know about you but I'm so sick of everyone using the typical bracelet string and making bracelets out of it. I wanted something more bold and thick, so I cut up three old shirt that I never wore and created a few fab bracelets out of them!

It's super easy and it'll only take you around 5-10 minutes and the steps are so easy to follow.
The first bracelet I made was the triple colored one. I gathered up three tank tops I never wore (they can be any color you desire). In this case, I used teal, pink and white. After gathering your clothes, simply cut three strips (make sure they are all the same size), tie a little knot at the top, and then braid like crazy! Once you're done your braid, all you have to do is tie it to the other end of your bracelet and voila! You're done!
I basically did the same thing with the white braid, however the only difference was that rather than using three different colors, I stuck with one. Super easy and it looks cute.

Face Candy Couture Valentine's Love Collection

Recently, the lovely Shantle Shipp from Face Candy Couture sent me a few exclusive samples from her new Valentine's Love mineral eyeshadow collection. Before I began, I'd just like to say that FCC creates their eyeshadow from scratch - yes that`s right, everything from FCC is homemade! I was so ecstatic when I found out I`d be receiving samples from their new line of eyeshadows that when I received the shadows I just couldn`t keep my hands off of them. I`ve applied them everyday for the past week and I`m in love with the colors. They`re just so glamorous, you can`t resist it!

The verdict

I loved receiving these samples. The Valentine's Love collection features such vibrant colors that can be used on an everyday basis. I know many individuals can be very skeptical when it comes to selecting mineral eyeshadow or even glittery eyeshadow because there is constant lingering questions pertaining to the staying power of the eye shadow. When I applied FCC's eye shadow, it just went on so smoothly just like an eyeshadow from a palette. The best part was that I didn't have to do a touch up once I applied it, it stayed on for the entire day. So that definitely was a plus.

The eyeshadows are very pigmented and  FCC`s shadows were not chalky whatsoever compared to other eyeshadows I`ve tried. Whatever color you select on the website, is the color you will receive.  Unlike other eyeshadows you might have ordered online, FCC provides you with what you want. Another thing I loved was how the Valentine`s Love collection offers so many different colors. For instance, if you`re going for a bold or intense look, the shadows Passion and Kisses would go well with that look whereas, if you`re leaning towards a neutral look or need an eyeshadow for a daily basis, Be Mine, Sweetheart and Adore would be perfect to complete your look. Also, the shadow Adore can be used as a highlighter if you don`t wish to use it as a eyeshadow.

Overall, I absolutely loved the Valentine's Love collection from Face Candy Couture. What isn't there to love? The fiery colors, the reasonable pricing, FCC has it all!

Be sure to visit http://www.facecandycouture.com/ to order your very own mineral eye shadows for a stellar price!

Nail Design: 2 tone Purple

This week's nail design was uber simple, yet also very cute! I went for a two tone look, in other words I picked two polishes of the same color...just in different shades. For example, in the picture above I painted the top of my nails dark purple (ELF nail polish) and the bottom a light "gumdrop" color (Revlon).
Anyway, until next week's nail design.

PS: Happy Valentines day

Hooray for Cakepops!

Nail Design: Plaid Nails

Last night, I was inspired to do a plaid design on my nails. It took me literally forever, like an hour and a half because I don't really have the right nail tools, so I was making the stripes with a toothpick.

Nonetheless, I think I did a decent job on my first attempt. A lot of my friends loved the design, one even thought I used a press on design! Ahaha. I took a few photos on my friend's phone because my camera's cord isn't really functioning so I can't upload my photos. I apologize for not providing step by step photos. But I'll try to break it down for you guys.

Step 1: Always apply basecoat

Step 2: Paint your nail any color you wish! (I used light brown)

Step 3: Pick a color and create a tic tac toe board (I used purple)

Step 4: After you've created a tic tac toe board, create 2 vertical lines (I used the color pink) besides your other color's vertical lines. After that, create 3 horizontal lines next to your other horizontal ones. As you can see in my picture, I accidentally only put two horizontal lines, I forgot to add one in the middle. Definitely need to remember to add that next time I do plaid nails again! Silly me.

Step 5: If you want your thumb to look the same as mine, just do the plaid nail on half of your nail and then paint a little heart right above that!
Step 6: Top coat everything and you're done!

Nail Design: Vibrant Nails

Another week, another nail design. This week's nail design is super vibrant, it just screams out color. It kind of reminds me of hippies since it's so colorful. Don't ask how I thought of this design, I was honestly so bored (like always!) and decided to start painting my nails with different items in my house. A toothpick can really create some funky designs.

Anyways, here's what I did to get my nails to look this way:

Step 1: Add 4 blobs of any four nail polishes of your choice

Step 2: Get a tooth pick and start swirling the nail polish around until you get the design you like! Don't be afraid to experiment - It'll end up looking good at the end.

I forgot to take pictures when I did the design on my nails, so I had to do it all over again on my sisters nail - and this is how it turned out when I was done
And ta- da! Here's a picture of my nails after I was finished. I decided to add a bit of glitter to top the look off! Ahaha don't mind my pjs in the picture. Honestly, I felt like this design was a easier version of doing the marble design - I've tried to do the marble nail design SO many times and I've failed. No matter what I do, I just couldn't get it. I'm so glad I figured out an easier way.

PS: I cut my nails - they're so short now. I feel naked without my long nails! I'm so used to them, it feels weird to have short nails.

Nail Design: Revamped Newspaper Nails

I'm obsessed with my nails. It's so weird,  I just can't help painting them a different color each week or trying out a new design. This week, I decided to revamp my newspaper nails. I'm not sure if you noticed, but whenever I see someone with newspaper nails, their nail polish color is always a light color (i.e. white or a very light pink). I decided to use E.L.F's essential nail polish in Lilac and then do a newspaper design on it, and I have to say I love it! Using a dark shade really brings out the design.

I think I just died a little - India Resort Fashion Week

I think I just died a little, I'm so stupid, I can't believe I'm 3 weeks behind on the India resort fashion week.

I usually always write an article on DESIblitz, but I've been caught up with other stuff that I totally forgot about it. ARGH! Shame on me. Anyways, I was looking at some of the collections on the internet and I died. Some of the pieces are just so stunning, from their embellishments and embroidery to the colors and fabrics used.

I decided to share with you all my top two designers from the India resort fashion week: Manish Malhotra and Pria Kataria Puri!

Manish Malhotra - Why are you so amazing?

Manish Malhotra is like thee KING of Fashion in Bollywood. This man is so unbelievably talented. I've realized that Manish showcases his collection during the finale of any fashion week and I can understand why, they obviously leave the best for last. In his latest collection, the colors used were definitely more festive and brighter. From anarkhali's to blazers, he had it all in this collection. One fabric that appeared a lot in the collection was definitely velvet.

Pria Kataria Puri

Every collection I look at of Pria Kataria Puri's I've noticed she always includes jumpsuits, and maxi kaftans. But I am not complaining since she always manages to make them look different. One thing I noticed was a lot of sequince, including sequinced bikinis! The collection consisted of a variety of different shades from warm reds and oranges to a bit of black pieces thrown here and there. Overall, with those marvelous eye catching pieces, Pria definitely manged to live up to continuously making her collections look sexy and classy.

I'll be write an in depth article on DESIblitz very soon in regards to the fashion show, so be sure to check it out once I post it!

Nail Design: Newspaper Nails

For a while now, I've been wanting to do the "newspaper" nail design. This past weekend, I went ahead and did the design. It turned out to be very messy, so don't hate. It was my first attempt so keep in mind practice makes perfect! Despite how messy my nails look, I've decided to share pictures of the design with all of you!

The design
In order to get the "newspaper" nail design, you will need the following:
Sally Hansen Ultimate Shield Top/Base Coat and Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Polish in "Lilac"
Any type of rubbing alcohol
Any small cup that you can pour the rubbing alcohol into. In this case, I used a medicine cup.
Any type of newspaper will work. I used a old copy of the Mississauga News.

When it comes to actually giving your nails the newspaper design, it's really easy and can be done in just six steps.

First step: Pour some rubbing alcohol into a cup

Second step: Tear up medium sized pieces of paper from the newspaper. They should be big enough to cover your nails

Third step: Put on a coat of top coat

Fourth step: Put on two coats of a solid light colored nail polish...in this case, I used "Lilac" by Sally Hansen
Fifth step: After all of your nails have completely dried, take one of your medium sized newspaper pieces and soak it up in the cup filled with rubbing alcohol.

Sixth step: After your medium sized newspaper piece has been soaked, place it on to your nail and hold it down for a good 30 seconds. After that, you should have the design imprinted on your nail!

The final result should look like the picture in the beginning of the post.
